A
PAIR OF BELLEFEUILLES, COPP, ESTEY AND McLELLAN WIN PROCTOR
FEATURES
By Jerry O'Brien

Proctor,
MN -
Brothers Mike Bellefeuille and Jody Bellefeuille
both won feature events Sunday night at the Proctor Speedway.
Younger brother Mike was the Super Stock winner while the
eldest sibling was the Midwest Modified feature winner.
Don Copp, Late Model, Kelly Estey Modified and Jim
McLellan Pure Stock were the other feature winners.
Steve
Roseen drew the pole for the WISSOTA Late Model 20 lap feature
with John Massingill to the outside.
At the green an eager Roseen jumped the start and was
sent to the inside of row two elevating Don Copp to the pole.
At the green Copp grabbed the point with Roseen,
Massingill, Darrell Nelson and Jeff Broking following.
Broking decided to try the low line and made it stick
working his way past Nelson to fourth then to third.
Massingill began to slip back as Nelson took fourth while
Clint Larson was up from the eighth starting slot to take over
fifth. Half way was
quickly reached as Copp with Roseen pulling to within four car
lengths. Nelson and Broking battled high and low with Nelson gaining
the spot only to have Broking come back sticking to that inside
line, to regain third. Copp
went on to the win over Roseen, Broking, Nelson and Larson.
Jayme
Lautigar bolted to the lead from the pole in the 15 lap WISSOTA
Modified main event followed by Steve Arpin, Jeff Hart, Kelly
Estey Jason Miller and Darrell Nelson.
Estey dropped to the low groove and drove to the lead as
Arpin slipped a wheel over the turn one edge and dropped back.
Miller slipped by Lautigar to second but Lautigar battled
back as Nelson ran fourth.
At the half way point it was Estey, Miller, Lautigar,
Nelson and Hart. Lautigar
bobbled and slid back in the field getting bunted by Matt
Sorenson bringing out the first caution flag.
The restart was a no go as newcomer Adam Heuer stalled in
turn one. At the green Estey again pulled away from Miller who was busy
fending off Nelson for second.
Arpin, Lautigar and Hart battled for third several car
lengths behind them. One
more caution flag waved and Heuer again the cause sending him to
the pits. Estey
went on to take the win over Nelson who won the battle for
second, Miller, Lautigar and Arpin.
Scott
Lawrence drew the pole for the Super Stock feature with Mike
Bellefeuille to the outside.
At the green Bellefeuille used the high groove to take
the lead over Lawrence with Apul, Schultz, Eric Nelson and Jay
Kuras trailing. The
caution flag soon appeared as Ron Malecki and Aaron Lillo
tangled on the back stretch.
At the restart Bellefeuille led Lawrence but again the
yellow was thrown as Shawn was shoved off into the mud off the
back stretch and Nelson took a tour of the back side of turns
one and two. Again
a try for a start with the same three up front, Kuras fourth and
Rick Rivord making it to the top five after the departure early
of a very quick Joe Oliver who made it from ninth to third
before heading straight off turn two with mechanical failure.
At the half way crossed flags Bellefeuille led Lawrence
Schultz, Rivord and Kuras but soon after the caution flag flew
for a Steve Tabara spin in turn one.
At he green flag the order up front remained the same as
Bellefeuille and Lawrence took their battle for the lead away
from Schultz who was alone in third.
Rivord and Kuras dueled for fourth but Johnny Erickson up
from the 11th starting slot squeezed between them and took
fourth away. On the
final turn with Bellefeuille in control, Kyle Peterlin made a
banzai move on Kuras and Rivord stealing fifth from them.
Darren
Brown led the Midwest Modifieds to the green flag for their 15
lap feature run. Brown's
car was having handling problems and Jeff Lien moved past to the
point as Jody Bellefeuille began his march to the front hugging
the bottom of the track. He slipped past Justin Jones and Bob Chesley into second and
set out to track down Lien.
With no caution flags to mar the event the half way point
was quickly reached with Bellefeuille making the lead pass.
Bellefeuille went on to take his first career win in any
division over Lien, Chesley, Jones and Greg Carlson.
There
was lots of trouble getting the Pure Stock feature to stay under
green for even one lap but when they did Todd Monahan was the
leader ahead of Jim McLellan, Al Mcdougall, J P Aase and Steve
Young. Again once
they got going it took little time to reach half way with the
order up front still the same.
Just past the mid point the final caution flag flew when
someone's bumper was ripped off.
At the green with seven laps to go Monahan still led
McLellan who was challenging for the lead with Nick Lavato to
third. The big
battle was for fourth between McDougall, Aase, Al Rapp and Jon
McKinnon with Aase wining out.
Monahan began to falter and McLellan flew by to take the
win. Monahan rolled
to a halt just past the finish line with Lavato, Aase, and Rapp
rounding out the top five.
