it became evident that the fog was not going to
lift anytime soon so the remaining feature events will be
concluded before next week's program which will start a half
hour early with hot laps at 4:30 p.m. and racing at 5:00 PM.
Dan Wheeler drew the pole position for the Midwest Modified
feature with newcomer Chris Johnson to his outside. Johnson took
the early lead with Nick Lavato second and Wheeler shuffled back
to third. It took Wheeler little time to gather himself up and
charge after Johnson quickly taking the lead. Those two set off
to settle the matter between themselves as they quickly pulled
away from the pack. At the half way mark it was Wheeler,
Johnson, Greg Chesley, Lavato and Mark Anderson in the top five.
Those five pulled away from the rest of the field with Loren
Inman, Jr in the sixth position. The first of two caution flags
slowed the action fro debris in turn two. At the green there was
no change in the front five but Alan Bohlman took over the sixth
and gained on the leaders. A caution on the next circuit for an
incident between Anderson and Chesley which sent disgruntled
Chesley to the rear. It was a green, white, Checkered situation
with Wheeler staying the course for the win, his second of the
season at the Speedway. Johnson, Lavato, Mark Anderson and
Bohlman rounded out the top five.
