PROVINZINO SWEEPS PROCTOR SPEEDWAY LATE MODELS

Chesley, Bellefeuille, Loucks And Wood Also Feature Winners

By Jerry O'Brien

7-6-08 Proctor, MN

Jeff Provinzino capped off a stellar week with his second WISSOTA AMSOIL Dirt Track

Series feature win to go along with a second place finish. Provinzino started the 25 lap event on

the inside of the second row and grabbed the early lead but the only caution flag of the event

caused a complete realignment of the 17 car field. Greg Hill gave his new Bill Frye Late Model a

good ride in the event. After wining his heat race, Hill started on the pole and led the early laps

before falling behind to the charging Provinzino. John Massingill broke from the front row and

battled with Hill then Provinzino, leading until the midpoint before settling for the runner up slot.

Caley Emerson was in the mix from row two all race long and held off Darrell Nelson who was

driving Tom Esse's #21 after destroying his #44 Saturday night, for fourth while Danny Young

who had started 10th rounded out the top five. Hill held on to sixth ahead of Kyle Peterlin, Harry

Hanson, Aaron Lillo and Tim McMann in the top five.

Bob Broking broke from the second row to the early lead in the WISSOTA AMSOIL Dirt

Track Series Modified feature but the big show late in the 20 lap event was Jeff Wood as the

Grand rapids driver made his presence felt. Two caution flags kept the field bunched as Wood

was in command by the ten lap mark. Kelly Estey started his charge toward the front from row

four and was in fourth by half way battling with Paul Schultz, Jayme Lautigar, Broking and

Darrell Nelson. Estey worked his way up to Wood on the high side while Wood held on to the

marker tires. Estey edged ahead as the laps depleted and looked to have cleared Wood on the

final circuit but a lapped car thwarted him off the final corner allowing Wood to nab his first

feature win of the season at the speedway. Lautigar, nelson and Schultz finished in the top five.

The Super Stock 20 lap feature proved to be the troublesome event of the night as a total of

seven caution flags for various spins, tangles and crashes bogged down the action. Mike

Bellefeuille was patiently aggressive as he worked his way forward from row four putting

himself in position to try for the win. A caution flag with five laps remaining saw Bellefeuille

right on leader Jeff Ruzich's bumper. Bellefeuille went to the top shelf in the final laps and took

the lead as Jeff Tardy, Jeremy Fink, Andy Davey and Eric Nelson got by to finish in the top five.

Nelson had led the early laps but went off the track losing positions back to 10th.

There was some pushing and shoving in the early going of the Midwest Modified 15 lap

feature but no one caused a stoppage. Loren Inman, Jr led the early laps from the outside of the

front row ahead of rookie Lance Solem as Greg Chesley wasted no time making a charge for the

front. He quickly moved from the fifth row and was soon in fifth. Skeeter Estey also put on a

charge and quickly moved from the eighth row into the top three then moved up to challenge

Chesley and the two raced off to settle it amongst themselves as they pulled away from the pack.

Chesley went on to take the win with Estey just short. Jimmy Latvala, Inman and Jesse Ogston

finished top five.

Josh Loucks put together a good run from the pole to grab his first ever Pure stock feature

win. Pat Van Ert shot from the second row through to the lead in the 12 lap feature while Al

Rapp blasted up from row four to second. Richard Dzelak, Pete Ciurleo and Tim Carlson ran in

the top five. Van Ert maintained the lead to the half way mark with Rapp glued to his bumper.

Rapp moved to the outside and grabbed the lead while Loucks surged forward and the three

worked three wide for the win. Loucks squeezed in between Rapp and the wall, made contact

with the concrete and took the win by about a foot. Rapp, Van Ert, Andrew LaBarge and Dan

Larsen finished in the top five.
